The Indian Statistical Service (ISS) exam is an esteemed and highly competitive examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in India. As a significant event for aspirants and the statistical community, the recently concluded ISS 2023 exam has garnered tremendous attention. In this blog, we present the highly anticipated answer key for objective papers and delve into an extensive analysis of both subjective and objective question papers.
We understand the eagerness of candidates who have appeared for the ISS 2023 exam to assess their performance. To aid in this endeavor, we have meticulously compiled the answer key for the objective papers. However, we strongly encourage candidates to cross-verify the answers and if got any errors must let us know.
Subjective Papers Analysis:
Apart from the objective papers, the ISS exam also consists of subjective papers that assess candidates' theoretical knowledge and analytical skills. Let's explore the salient features and analysis of each of these papers.
1. General English:
This paper tests candidates' command of the English language, comprehension abilities, and effective communication skills. It aims to evaluate their proficiency in grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension passages. Based on the question paper analysis, candidates can gain insights into the expected difficulty level and assess their performance.
The question was to the level Easy to Moderate.
2. General Studies:
The General Studies paper aims to assess candidates' knowledge in diverse fields, including current affairs, history, geography, polity, and economy. It consists of 5 marks questions that test candidates' conceptual clarity, analytical skills, and general awareness. Our analysis will shed light on the weightage given to different topics, important areas to focus on, and potential areas of difficulty. This year's General Studies paper was a bit easy.
The Question Paper was easy and many of the questions directly matched with our answer writing practice questions provided on a daily basis to the paid candidates.
3. Statistics Paper-1:
The Statistics Paper-1 covers fundamental concepts and topics in statistics. It includes questions on probability theory, Statistical Methods, Numerical Analysis, and Basics of Computer and Data Processing. By conducting a detailed analysis of this paper, we have unraveled the key areas of emphasis, common question patterns, and potential challenges faced by candidates.

In this paper, as we have observed 19 out of 20 questions of Numerical Analysis were from our notes.

4. Statistics Paper-2:
Statistics Paper-2 also covers fundamental concepts and topics in statistics. It includes questions on Statistical Inference, Linear Models, and Official Statistics. By conducting a detailed analysis of this paper, we have unraveled the key areas of emphasis, common question patterns, and potential challenges faced by candidates.

5. Statistics Paper-3:
Statistics Paper-3 delves deeper into advanced statistical techniques and their applications. It covers topics such as Sampling Techniques, Econometrics, time series analysis, index numbers, and Demand Analysis. Our analysis will provide insights into the complexity of questions, important formulas or concepts to revise, and strategies to approach different types of problems.
The question Paper Was of easy to moderate type.

6. Statistics Paper-4:
The Statistics Paper-4 also delves deeper into advanced statistical techniques and their applications. It covers topics such as Demography, Statistical Quality Control, Multivariate analysis, and Design of Experiments (We have given an analysis of these topics because as of now we are teaching these papers only in paper-4). Our analysis will provide insights into the complexity of questions, important formulas or concepts to revise, and strategies to approach different types of problems.
The question Paper Was easy, can't say moderate, type.
In this paper as well, 90-95% of questions, as our students say, directly matched with our Notes and 99% concept matched.
